Snowboarding!
Yes, the title pretty much says it all. I went snowboarding for the first time yesterday!! It was organized by the school, and was actually for "Language Enrichment" students, who are the ones who cant really speak and write English well. Well i'm not one of them, but me and a few friends decided to follow, since we've never gone snowboarding before.. Of course we got the teacher's permission. (Snowboarding and skiing here is a norm, everyone does it!)
Okay so this is how the day went. (with pics of course)
I went with a few friends, including
and alot of other friends. Approx 30 ppl
We took a school bus(like the one in the Magic Schoolbus, only without the magic element) to the base of a mountain called Grouse. Then we took a
to the top of the mountain, where the snow was!
After that, we had to walk to the
place to get our equipment.
So, now we're all suited up.
And ready for our 1 and a half hour lesson on snowboarding.
Of course, even after the lesson, we were still falling down... alot. And i mean alot. Here's proof. This is the back of the t-shirt i wore.
Yes it is hard. Like a sheet of ice 2cm thick. How did it get like that u ask. Ah, u see, i fall alot right? Yes, so snow sticks to the back of my t-shirt and accumulates. It melts soon after.. due to my body heat(when i sit down). Then when i do get up again, the water freezes again due to sub zero temperatures. SO there u go. Pretty cool huh. But it wasnt cool when i went into the restaurant and sat down for dinner..
We snowboarded around the place for awhile, then me and a couple friends decided to be adventurous and try "the cut", which was an intermediate ski run. We skiied down, and then took one of those ski lifts up the mountain(regretfully, no pics). Unfortunately, we got on the wrong ski lift, and ended up on the peak of a different mountain! And the only way to get back was to ski down that mountain and take a ski lift up the correct one. Now this other mountain we were at was different from the first one. It was alot steeper! It was meant for better skiiers and snowboarders.. yeah. So, as u can imagine, 3 of us(who were all beginners) tumbled down the mountain. Haha.. Adrian was the smart one. He took the board off and walked down. Smart guy... he took a longer time, but he didn't suffer. Haha. This explains the ice on my t-shirt.
Here's a pic of vancouver city.
I took this when we were on the "wrong" mountain. Haha. Nice view?
Adrian.
Cheeese!
Okay thats it for today.
Coming soon: A day in St. Georges.
